In November 2008, I sold the Mellow. It is possible that in the future I will get another sailboat, but on the west coast where I am from. However, for now, it is only an idea. I lived on the Mellow for several months, and in that time I learned a lot, met some good neighbors who also live on boats, did a lot of introspection, did a lot of swimming, did a lot of rowing in my dingy and did some reading. I rode out 4 hurricanes that passed near enough to create 70 mph winds. I even rowed from shore to the boat in winds of 50 to 60 mph in a driving rain. Basically I steared the dingy with the oars and grabbed the sailboat as I was zipping by. I threw my groceries and stuff onboard, tied the dingy off, bailed the rainwater and spray out of it and climbed on the sailboat. Lots of fun that little adventure. Two of my neighbors saw me go flying by and thought I was nuts. Found that out the next evening when the weather was calm. |
