Welcome to my page about the basic truth of gun control and human nature.
Disclaimer
Please note that the purpose of this page on my site is to inform anyone who is interested in knowing, how gun control affects society. And to tell them to take responsibility and stop blaming gun crimes on guns.
Many people in America believe that where crimes are concerned, guns are the problem. Fact is, guns don't do anything any more than a toaster does. People burn toast using a toaster and people shoot people, targets, animals, bails of hay, trees, road signs and many other things using guns. But by themselves, guns do nothing. They are inanimate objects which will rust away if neglected (provided the gun is made of steel). And down through time since the invention of the gun this has been proven over and over, every time one is found that was lost and left exposed to nature.
People refuse to take responsibility for their own protection by saying the gun is to problem. If guns were confiscated in America, it would not only violate the right of every human in America to defend and protect themselves, their family, friends and property, it would also cause a sharp increase in crime. Because even though all the law abiding people would turn in their guns, the criminals would not. This is true, not false.
Gangs, murderers, robbers, rapists, muggers, thugs, drug dealers, black marketers and other people who have little or no regard for a person's rights, security or privacy will not turn in any weapon. They will not register a weapon. And they will, even if they lose one for whatever reason, replace it...
FAST.
The second amendment of the Constitution of The United States of America says simply "A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." The "security of a free state" is the "security of the people", NOT the government. And "shall not be infringed" is "shall not be violated, encroached upon, trespassed". The statement in the second amendment is simple, and leaves no room for interpretation in such a way that it could mean anything else other than, put in modern language, that people on American soil have a right to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their country. What is indicated is that the people also have a responsibility to protect themselves, their family, their neighbors, their property and their country.
Human nature is violent enough to warrant such a law in the constitution. Even the police have often enough proven that they are violent and have committed many crimes in the line of duty including beatings, rape, murder, theft, drug related crimes and on a daily basis commit minor acts of injustice against people which the legal system will not allow the people to defend themselves against.
As long as the basic right and responsibility of people to protect themselves and maintain their personal security is infringed, crimes against people will increase, not decrease.
The Washington D.C. sniper is a perfect and very public example of what the difference would have been had the general public been armed. When people know that they have to be respectful of each other because most of the people around them are carrying a gun, they tend to be respectful. People in reality don't have much interest in having a gun fight. If people had been armed, the snipers would have been shot, and probably killed the first day. End problem. The people that would do such a thing would think twice, because they would know other people have guns and can shoot back. But they knew no one would shoot, and most would not even look around since they would be ducking for cover. If anyone stuck their head up, they risk getting it shot off, or being criticized for doing something stupid, often from people close to them, unless they succeed in getting good info. Then they might be a hero.
Lose your rights, and you get what you deserve; the risk of becoming a crime statistic, and you get to be fearful that someone might break into your home, kidnap your kids, carjack your car, or whatever else they (the criminals) can think of to do.
Outlawing guns does not disarm criminals. Actually, disarming criminals does not stop them either. They still find other ways to commit crimes, like the
XBox killings. In most cases when a crime is commited, a cop is not there, the cop gets to investigate, but mostly does not protect anyone, because a cop cannot protect anyone, unless present at the scene at the time the crime is taking place.
If you want to be safe, take responsibility for your security. A solved crime is still a crime commited that a cop arrived at after the criminal left. If you kill the criminal, you may lower your taxes. Of course you might go to jail. But if you fail, you may die. So take responsibility and quit blaming an inanimate object for the crimes people commit.
I you decide to get a gun, get professional training on using it. And know your rights.

Gun Control In Australia
November 2000

Hi Canucks and Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent,
Australia wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent,
Australia wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes 44 percent!),
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.

(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see this data on the American evening news or hear the governor or members of the state Assembly disseminating this information. The Australian experience proves it.

Guns in the hands of the honest citizens saves lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law abiding citizens. Take note Americans, before it is too late!  __________________________________________________________________________________

NOTE: Please feel free to copy, repost, email, print and put in public places as much as you want. BUT please do not alter it. THE ONLY PURPOSE is to inform people of this basic truth, that humans must have a means of defense to protect themselves from immoral people who would do them, their family and friends harm. In the whole of human history, there has always been bad people who hurt other people, and there always will be. Since there is no police where the criminals are at any given moment, the police CANNOT protect anyone. Whatever the criminal is going to do will happen when e police are not present. People have a responsibilty to take care of themselves. They always have and always will.
